“International Health Regulations 2005 and Pandemic”

Synopsis:
In response to the exponential increase in international travel and trade, emergence
and re-emergence of international disease threats, and other health risks, countries
worldwide have agreed to implement the International Health Regulations 2005
(IHR, 2005). The IHR 2005 provide a significant role during this pandemic. The
emergence of the COVID-19 started with an unknown pneumonia outbreak in China
in December 2019. On 21 January 2020, the WHO declared the event is Public
Health Emergency of International Concern (PHEIC), and subsequently, on 11
March 2020, it was announced as a global pandemic. During this event, the IHR
2005 has been evaluated extensively in its role and function on pandemic response. Objectives
• Identify the role of IHR, 2005 during pandemic.
• To discuss on the gap of IHR, 2005 implementation during pandemic COVID.
